Hi, My name is Subarna Basnet, and I am a 19-year-old tech company founder, I love to write, and I love to travel.
Since childhood, I’ve dreamed of building a business empire that would impact the world of technology. I started Bhyakur, my dream project.
A lot has happened during my 4-year journey, but you might wonder why I’m mentioning 4 years.
The reason is, that I’m moving to India to pursue further studies in CSE (Computer Science Engineering).
Now, I’m leaving behind everything I’ve started, including the work and business I’ve built over the past 4 years.
So, let’s start from day one in Kathmandu (KTM).
Day 1, the first time I took a flight, no one was with me. I traveled alone from my birthplace, Jhapa, to the city of temples, Kathmandu.
I knew I lacked confidence and had no experience, but I managed to step out of Tribhuvan Airport on my own.
My sister was waiting to pick me up, and I went with her. However, I asked her to take me to Pashupatinath Temple first.
At that time, I couldn’t go inside the temple due to COVID restrictions, so I viewed it from the outside.
After a 30-40 minute journey, I finally arrived at my sister’s house.
It was my first time in Bhaktapur, a city of ancient culture with modern vibes.
I instantly fell in love with the people and the atmosphere around me.
After a week, I moved to Dolakha.
The College Life: Laligurans Batika College
I’m not going to explain every day of my college life—it’s not that important, especially since I didn’t even attend more than 200 days if I’m counting. 🤣
Okay, here are some highlights from my college days:
The first time I talked to Sristika & Subarna Joshi (not Basnet, Joshi—I’m the Basnet, hehe).
Subarna Joshi became my best friend after just one day of fun.
Great times with Janak and Dipesh.
Sumeka, Oe Motti.
Krishna? Let’s just say, that was a sexy experience. 😎
Pradip and I had some deep, emotional talks about the future.
Kabir, The double meaning.
And no one can replace my good friend Muna! I love the way she talks and dresses—wow.
I’ll never forget the fun with friends, especially that night of laughter at Sir’s resort. Seriously, what a night!
Teachers like Anup sir and Pradip sir were unforgettable—such an epic combo of chemistry and physics.
I love you all!
Oh, and Joshi, that day we spent together and that late-night Insta live—we really made some memories in the dark world of lies, didn’t we?
But…the darkest part of my college life? A bad misunderstanding with my college principal and MD sir. No one backed me up, except my friends.
There are so many stories—some are fun to share, others…better left unsaid. 😅
Love you all for making my life happy—and even more happy! Hehe.
And how could I ever forget my Maam, Manuka Maam? Hehe.
Laligurans College ❎ Manuka Maam✅
Note: I have posted a lot of articles about my +2, but somehow I have deleted all the files from the server. I think it happened when we were moving our server to a new and better one. I thought I had missed the files.
The Hostel Life
Hostel life? Well, I’ve lost count of how many times I’ve changed hostels—probably more than 15 times if I try to tally it up, haha!
No clue how many friends I’ve made or how many places I’ve called home. But a few memories stand out.
My first hostel ever was the Kathmandu Boys Hostel. There was this uncle who would take me to college on his bike and show me the way. And the food? Oh man, some of the best I’ve had in all my hostel life. Hehe.
Honestly, I can’t even remember how many hostels I’ve switched. One night, my friend and I were studying outside when we heard some noise. We weren’t even that loud, but some aunties just had to complain about us making too much noise.
The next day, the warden fired me from the hostel. My friend Nishcal said, “Hey Basnet, if you’re going, I’m coming with you.” The next thing you know, all the boys left the hostel too.
As I was leaving, the warden called me, “Hey Subarna, come here.” I was like, “Yes, sir?” He said, “I know you’re not the one who made the noise. You can stay if you apologize.” But why should I?
So I left.
After that, every day became a night-out adventure.
One night, around 2 a.m., my hostel brother Bishal and I were out on the main road when a car came speeding right toward us. If we hadn’t moved in time, that could’ve been the end of us! Haha. And now, here you are, reading this story, so clearly we made it.
Slowly, we racked up some unforgettable experiences—night-outs in Bhaktapur, attending events like WordCamp (WordCamp Nepal 2022), and so much more. All of it was super nice.
Oh, and I can’t forget the legendary pillow fights or the birthday presents—belts and shoes! You know exactly what I mean. 😉
Anyway, guys, I still miss you all.
The City Life: Kathmandu
Kathmandu—a city full of life, adventure, and endless memories. It’s not just a place; it’s where I found some of the best moments of my life.
From exploring every corner with my hostel friends to bonding over new experiences with my college crew, Kathmandu will always hold a special place in my heart ♥
First off, the hostel days—absolute madness!
Whether it was late-night talks or impromptu movie nights, we always found a way to turn an ordinary day into an adventure.
I still remember sneaking out for a midnight movie with the boys, laughing our way back to the hostel. The streets were quiet, but we weren’t. 😄
And then, the endless food adventures! My college friends and I made it our mission to try every possible dish we could find.
From local momo joints to fancy rooftop restaurants, there wasn’t a place in Kathmandu we didn’t test.
Each bite was like a new story waiting to be told—sometimes amazing, sometimes… well, let’s just say it was “an experience.”
But that’s the beauty of it, right? The food, the laughter, the memories—it all came together.
Traveling around the city was another adventure on its own. Kathmandu’s chaotic streets, noisy traffic, and sudden rainstorms couldn’t stop us.
Whether we were exploring Bhaktapur’s ancient culture or just wandering around Thamel, every outing was filled with something new.
There was always this sense of excitement in the air, like anything could happen.
And it usually did! From spontaneous plans to day trips that turned into night-outs, Kathmandu had its own way of surprising us.
But the real highlight? The bond I formed with my friends. Hostel mates, college buddies, they weren’t just friends—they became family.
Together, we survived stressful exam seasons, had crazy pillow fights, and celebrated each other’s birthdays with the most bizarre gifts (yeah, belts and shoes—classic).
Every moment, every laugh, every random adventure made those days unforgettable.
Kathmandu wasn’t just a city; it was the backdrop of our story.
A story filled with late-night chats, near-miss car rides, and deep conversations about the future.
It was where I learned, grew, and made memories that will last a lifetime.
To my friends—thank you for the endless fun and the unforgettable times.
Here’s to the city that brought us together.
And yeah, Kathmandu? I’ll be back for more. 😉
Kathmandu, Until We Meet Again
Kathmandu—a city that turned ordinary days into extraordinary memories. From hostel shenanigans to college adventures, every moment was a treasure.
Exploring the streets, trying new foods, and making lifelong friends—it was all part of the journey.
Thank you, Kathmandu, for the laughter, the surprises, and the unforgettable experiences. I’ll cherish these memories forever and look forward to returning for more.
Until next time!
