About Me

My name is Subarna, and I’m a solo traveler, storyteller, and a student of computer science engineering with a heart full of curiosity for the world around me.

2021 – kalinchowk, Dolakha, Nepal

I grew up in Nepal, surrounded by mountains and endless dreams. At 19, I left my home country to study in South India, chasing not just a degree but a life full of experiences. I didn’t know it at the time, but that one decision would change everything.

In India, I didn’t just learn from books, I learned from people, cultures, and challenges. It made me realize that real education happens beyond classroom walls.

So, I started traveling solo, mixing my love for technology, physics, and exploration into something bigger than myself.

I’ve wandered through ancient cities, gotten lost in bustling markets, and found peace under starlit skies, always chasing new experiences, new questions, and new answers. Every journey taught me a little more about the world, and a lot more about myself.

Today, I’m on a mission: To inspire others, especially young dreamers, to step outside their comfort zones and build a life that’s meaningful, adventurous, and unapologetically their own.

Traveling solo isn’t about being fearless. It’s about choosing growth even when you’re scared, starting even when you don’t have it all figured out, and trusting that every step forward has something to teach you.

I believe curiosity is the best compass.

And adventure? It’s not something you find. It’s something you create.

Meet My friend, Joshi

Name: Subarna Joshi & Subarna Basnet

Meet my friend Subarna Joshi.

Funny enough, we share the same first name… Subarna… the only difference is that I’m Basnet, and he’s Joshi.

He’s the one who first inspired me to travel.

He taught me how traveling isn’t about having a lot of money, it’s about having a lot of heart. He showed me how to explore on an ultra-low budget, sometimes with just $0.50, just enough for a short bus ride.

But here’s the catch: once that $0.50 was spent, we had to get off the bus and continue our journey on foot.

That day, I realized something powerful:

Budget doesn’t matter when your passion for travel is strong enough.

How I Started Traveling Solo

2022 – Kathmandu, Nepal

In Nepal, solo travel isn’t exactly common, especially when you’re young and still studying. But I always believed that the best stories come from unexpected beginnings.

While studying in India, I often felt the urge to explore, to move beyond routines. One weekend turned into another, and before I knew it, solo travel became part of who I am. No giant plan, no huge budget, just a backpack, a notebook, and an open mind. Here is my Journey Kit.

And yes, I faced doubts, mistakes, language barriers, missed buses, but every single moment was worth it. Adventure isn’t about perfect plans. It’s about perfect growth.

My Travel Philosophy

I believe in slow, meaningful travel.

2019 – Arjundhara Dham, Jhapa, Nepal

Not rushing through checklists, but sitting down in small cafés, walking unfamiliar streets, talking to locals, getting lost, and seeing the soul of a place.

I believe that responsible travel matters, supporting local businesses, respecting cultures, understanding history, and protecting the environments we’re lucky enough to visit.

For me, travel is a lifelong classroom and the world is my favorite teacher.

What’s Next???

I’m continuing my journey, learning, building, traveling, and sharing.
